How To Be Happy With Yourself

Shall we embark upon some solutions for finding How To Be Happy With Yourself?  Yes, we shall, and even though this page can say a lot of things that are worthy to be read and said; it will not help anyone if action does not follow.

The first question we might explore about how to be happy with yourself is; why are you not happy with yourself?  One must know the answer to this one before they search for a solution.  Some questions might be the following:

  • I am not satisfied with my career or job.
  • I am unhappy with my accomplishment or lack of them.
  • I do not like the people I work with.
  • No one likes me.
  • I want a bigger paycheck.
  • I want a bigger house.
  • I want to give my children more.
  • I want to feel worthy.
  • I want to be an inspiration to others.
  • I want to impress others.
  • I want to be good at something that others aren't.
  • I want security.
  • I want to open my own business.
  • I want to be looked up to.
  • I want to have as much as my friends.
  • I want to be more aggressive.
  • I want to work harder.
  • I want to be more determined.
  • I want to feel sufficient.
  • I want to be more independent.
  • I want to be more stable.
  • I want to see things as they really are.
  • I want people to like me more.
  • I want people to understand me.
  • I want more education so that I can do a better job.
  • I want to believe in myself more.
  • I want others to believe in me.
  • I want to be a better husband, wife, mother, father, sister, daughter, son, friend.
  • I want what matters most in life.
  • I want to let go of fear.
  • I want to be able to know the difference in real happiness and material things.
  • I need to let go of all the things which are making me unhappy with myself.
This list could be continue if there were space enough.  If we notice the list the majority of this list is I want this and this and this.  I am not satisfied with this and this.  Not once was there a list like the following:

  • I am grateful that I have all of the potential that I have and I must learn how to dig into it to make it work better for me.
  • I must like myself before other people can like me.
  • I must use my strengths to overcome my weaknesses.
  • I have a great job but I must study more to get a higher promotion and salary.
  • I must find a way to respond to others without seeming defensive.
  • I know that I must find a way to not criticize others.
  • I am sure that I need to learn more about how to function more successfully within my team at work.
  • If I am going to seek recognition; then I must do something worthwhile and worth being recognized, at my own expense.
  • I need to work on myself to be a person who sees good in others.
  • I must work on my ability to be more assertive.
  • I must figure out how I can be more satisfied with what I am accomplishing; put my priorities in place, and dwell on what is good in my life instead of wanting something different.
  • I believe that I have the ability to be everything I am meant to be and I will work hard to be it, but I know that satisfaction comes from knowing that having more does not bring true happiness.
  • I must look at my accomplishments and be thankful; not be jealous of any other person.
  • I must reach for the reachable.
  • I must know the difference in temporary happiness and long term happiness.
  • I must forget my prior mistakes and move forward with confidence.
  • I must not measure my success by another person.
  • I must reach for more self confidence.
  • I must always remember that my life and my happiness is dependent upon the choices I make and how hard I work for those things I feel I need.
  • I must know the difference in needing and wanting.
  • I must not think too highly of myself, but be confident enough to make the effort necessary to obtain those things I need.
  • I must never depend too much on anyone but me; no one can make my life better or worse; it is up to me.
  • I must work at being happy with what I have. If I cannot be happy with myself, and with what I have accomplished so far; how am I to be happy if I had more?
  • I must learn when I need to be satisfied and when I need to move forward.
  • I must learn what true happiness is, and that it is not actually what I can buy with money or have with things.  It is a soul that is satisfied from within.
When we examine our wants and needs; we just might learn that we have enough to be satisfied just where we are and with what we have.  If we learn this; things seem to just fall into place as we progress on our journey.  Being happy with ourselves where we are, doesn't necessarily mean that we are happy with being complacent; it just means that we know that life is a journey.

Finding New Excitement 2011

Grab a slab and let's be friends!

I have begun year 2011 with a new attitude and determination to be as good as Heather Armstrong.  Don't laugh!  She is young and I am....older.  Notice I did not say old. I can be like her if I wanna, can't I?Actually that is totally against everything I write about and believe....but....let me finish, please.
I had run across Heather's website by accident some time ago or either saw her on the Public Channel, can't remember which came first, but she is a Professional Blogger. I really did not have the desire to be a professional blogger, didn't even know what that was, and I thought you had to write excellent articles on niche blogs or website be a success. Well, I was wrong; you don't.  She literally calls herself the aforementioned also, so I am not calling names.  She may have niche sites but I don't know that.

At any rate Heather is originally from Memphis (Bartlett), Tennessee. If you have never read her blog (you won't have a hard time finding it because if you input Dooce.com...you will get about 10 pages of it on the Google search).  I did not go to the last page, but if it isn't 10 pages, it is probably more.  Yes, I am sure she is raking it in.  At any rate, Heather has become more than Successful. She merely blogs on Dooce.com...yes she does other things like writing books and things I am sure I do not know about.

Like Heather, I am kinda sorta from Memphis as that is where I spent about 24 years, give or take, working in mortgage lending.  The reason for the give or take is that I moved to my home town a couple of times in those years....which lead to nothing much, but a long visit you might say, for about a year each time, the last visit was about two years.  In fact I made more money in 2003 than highly educated teacher in this neck of the woods.  In fact, I know I made more than average so as you read my other post, you will see why I have decided to not...retire yet.  I do not want to retire; I want to blog like Heather and make lots of money just by simply talking to you like you were here.  Well, that is how my Mom who turns 90 the last day of this month, does her favorite evening news Anchor, so why can't I?  You know of course to be professional one should never write in the first person.  Well, here all rules are broken and here it is okay.

This is the Country...real Country, it is South of Memphis...No jobs, no money and not a lot of fun.  Well, when you get my age...fun isn't that important anymore, you just do not want to waste what life you have left and you want to keep yourself active and your brain stimulated. My brain is definitely going and sometimes it doesn't stop to let me sleep.  I have a lot on my plate for this year and I intend to make my Successful.Part2 my passion.

With that said, no, I am really not trying to be like Heather or anyone for that matter, but it really does amaze me that someone (who has a southern drawl, like Heather and myself) can just talk about our life, our family and our little furry friends..and make it successful.  Yea, I have done that too; and strike up the attention of the media, magazine articles etc.  Well, I have talked about my furry friends.  She has done the latter made a very successful business just by blogging. Good for her, it just goes to show you that there are no set rules for becoming Successful; at any age.  One must just take the bull by the horns and go with it.

If you have read my very first article here; it does explain the title of this blog pretty well.  Yea, I decided that I would do something that I had always wanted to do and that was write.....  and I am writing.  No, I do not claim to be a professional writer; but I have grown and do better than I did initially.  I have learned that the more you write the better you get.  One writes much better at something they love to do or something that is easy for them to write about.  That is usually what I do...Oh, yes I have learned that spell check doesn't always work well...so you proofread everything.

With that said, I made some changes here to my design on this blog and decided I would just write something new and then put it out there on Facebook to see if it draw any one's attention.  Things are changing and growing, I am so excited....you know when you get my age, it doesn't take much to excite one...I hope you enjoy!  Happy New and I trust all will Find Excitement in 2011 as well.
